Coding and Directions
Overview
In this activity your children will need to have access to the coding equipment from OSMO. You must also download the app. This should be completed as a small group activity.
This lesson enables your children to plan out and create instructions to move a character. This lesson combines coding and simple instructions to ensure your children think, plan, reflect and revisit.
Other Teaching Ideas:
Directional work - Forwards, backwards, left & right.
Solving problems.
Debug - Scan different pieces of code and look for errors.
Minecraft and Numbers
Overview
In this lesson your class will be looking at and will be creating numbers. This is a great activity to encourage your class to work on their number formation in a fun way.

You can create addition sums.
You can build different objects.
You can use Minecraft to write different words linked to phonics.
Story of 5 and Explain Everything
Overview
This is a lesson that works on story of number and the app Explain Everything.
This particular example is linked to the story of 5.
Story of Number and Explain Everything
Overview
This lesson would work with any story of number activity. Your children must be able to add shapes to the slide and move them, add slides and use the record function.
Shapes and Explain Everything
Overview
In this lesson, your children are going to work on the recognition and formation of 2D shapes. The circle, square and rectangle have been provided, but you need to create your triangles, pentagons and hexagons using lines or pen function for drawing. I would recommend using the pen.
Time and Explain Everything
Overview
This lesson works on analogue time. It looks complicated but it is a very simple lesson for even the youngest of children.
Venn Diagrams and Explain Everything
Overview
This is a sorting lesson and can be completed in the PE hall. You can start by simply sorting into two (unconnected) circles and build to a venn diagram. Some teachers like using hoops to illustrate this lesson and it works well.
This activity reinforces the understanding of odd and even numbers and numbers up to 20.
Addition and Minecraft
Overview
This lesson allows your children to play the ever popular 'Minecraft' game whilst learning to add using the concrete strategy.
Other Teaching Ideas:
You can use Minecraft to create words linked to phonics or spellings.
You can use Minecraft to make different quantities.
You can use Minecraft to create geographical features such as bridges, lakes, volcanoes and more.
Money and EE
Allow your children to import the different coins into the Explain Everything app. The children can then create different amounts using suitable coins.
Counting
This great activity allows your children to develop their counting skills using the iPad.
The app is called Bugs and Buttons and allows the children to count different mini beasts on the screen.
Story of Number
The app Geoboard allows your children to work on their number bond knowledge in a similar way to cuisenaire rods.
The aim is to help your children develop a quick recall.
