Log Roll/Pencil Roll/Barrel Roll
Teaching Points:
Get into an arch shape and start to roll onto your side.
When you’re on your side, your body should be in a straight line with your bottom and stomach muscles pulled in.
Keep your head between your arms.
Continue rolling over and move into a dish shape as you roll onto your back.
Keep your arms and legs lifted off the ground.
Press your lower back to the floor.
Teddy Bear Roll - Teaching Points
From straddle sit:
Hands grasp legs behind knees (maintain this shape throughout skill).
Pull knee to ear (e.g. R knee to R ear) to initiate rolling action.
Roll sideways across back and shoulders.
End in straddle sit facing in the opposite direction from start.
Maintain body tension and straight legs in a pike straddle throughout.

Side Roll
Children will lie on their back with their knees tucked up towards their chest. They will rotate from side to side in a controlled manner
Forward Roll
A forward roll is a basic gymnastics move that looks like a graceful somersault. To perform one correctly, you should be able to move from the starting position into a roll and get back on your feet all in one motion. Click on the resource to find out how to do it safely.
